Coaching Staff
Gallagher, a former NCAA Division I athlete, is in his fifth season (1999-2001, 2007-present) on Lake Forest's coaching staff. He works exclusively with the Forester goalkeepers. Gallagher helped direct goalkeepers Rachael LaFin (1999) and Alison Lynch (2007) to First Team All-Conference honors. LaFin broke the single-season school record with 156 saves in 1999. Lynch's 2007 saves total (108) ranks second in team history and LaFin's 103 in 2000 is third. The Foresters allowed just 1.27 goals per game with 23 shutouts in his four seasons on staff. Gallagher, an Executive Officer in the United States Army and United Stats Soccer Federation "A" licensed coach, brought an extensive coaching resume with him to Lake Forest. Most recently, he was the women's assistant coach at salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island from 2003-03. He was also an assistant women's coach at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, in 1998. The year before Gallagher was the player/assistant coach for the All-Army Soccer Team in Ft. Eustis, Virginia. He also served as a men's assistant coach at Southern Wesleyan University, an NAIA school, for the 1995-96 season and at NCAA Division I Clemson University in 1994-95. In addition, he was the head women's soccer coach for Southern Wesleyan University (Central, S.C.) in 1995-96 and the Ft. Bragg men's team player/head coach from 1986-88. Gallagher's playing career has been even more extensive. He was a goalkeeper for the All-Army Soccer Team for six times between the years of 1981 and 1997, and the goalkeeper three times for the United States CISM National Team from 1982-89. Gallagher has also been a goalkeeper/forward for SVC Adler, "B" Class in Bad Kreuznack, Germany, a forward for FV Hockstatten, "B" Class in Hockstatten, Germany, and a goalkeeper for FC Phersee in Stuttgart, Germany of the "Bizertz" League. Gallagher earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Management from Rider University, an NCAA Division I school in Lawrenceville, New Jersey, in 1980. He was a goalkeeper for the Rider men's soccer team. He went on to earn a Masters of Science degree in Aeronautical Science
from Embry-Riddle University in Daytona Beach, Florida in 1989.
